SLAdwerx 2.0 The Adwerx 2.0 System is designed to allow the handing out of just about any kind of advertising material you need - textures, notecards, URL links, samples/demo versions, even open the map for users. The Adwerx System is based around the idea of free servers, and renting or buying display panels to show your ad campaign on. Adwerx is a grid-wide system - only one server is needed for an ad campaign. There is no limit to the number of campaigns (servers) or displays. ---------------- Adwerx Server ---------------- The Adwerx Server is rather simple to operate, though for the flexibility you get in functionality, you do need to take care in setting up the _config notecard located within. However, once that's done, spreading your campaign is as simple as can be! Touching the server will present you with a menu, giving you a summary of the Campaign name, the number of ads, and the total number of clicks to ads in your campaign so far. Stats returns the count of clicks, followed by lines for each click telling which ad was clicked, who clicked it, and the location of the display that was clicked. Update forces an update of all displays with your campaign, whether they're displays you own that are not rented, or they're displays you've rented, so that they can pick up any changes you've made to your campaign. Reset forces a reset of the scripts in the server. -------------------------------------------- Adwerx Server - Notecard Configuration -------------------------------------------- Timer= Default time for a advertisment if none is specified Default_Object= Default object to give out if none is specified Campaign= Name of the ad campaign that you will give the displays to connect Here is an example advertisement config block: Notice it is 2 lines ------------------------------------------- Ad=AvaronAd2BlueText;Avaron%pink <==== Example Note Config 20;map;avaron%<91,165,120> -------------------------------------------- First Line: 'Ad=' tells the server this is the start of a new ad. 'AvaronAd2BlueText' is the name of the texture to be displayed on the server - this must be in the server inventory and FULL PERMISSIONS semicolon ";" to separate fields 'Avaron' is what will appear in the hovertext Use a percent sign "%" to separate the hovertext from its color pink is the color for the hovertext. Available colors are: red green white black steel blue orange yellow pink purple lime sky The next line is: '20' - the time in seconds this ad is to be displayed semicolon ";" to separate fields 'map' is the type to hand out when the ad is touched: map texture url notecard lm object ---- map opens the World Map to a specifc location ---- url displays the standard blue corner box ready to open a URL in the external browser ---- the other four options find the object listed next in the inventory and gives it to the person touching. semicolon ";" once more to separate fields This is where you specify what is done when your advertisment is clicked. It is 2 words separated by a '%' like the hovertext in the first line. avaron%<91,165,120> - in the case of texture, notecard, lm, or object, this would be the name of the item to be given out. In the case of map, it'sthe region name, followed by the location within the region as a vector, separated by a percent sign "%". For URLs, it's the name of the website, followed by the actual URL, separated by a % sign. EG: 20;map;avaron%<91,165,120> 20;url;Slashdot%http://www.slashdot.org 20;texture;AvaronAd2BlueText etc. Comments start with ## on the line, and blank lines are ignored. --------------------------------- Adwerx Display - Owner Menu --------------------------------- The only option here is to boot the current renter without a refund. --------------------------------- Adwerx Display - Renter Menu --------------------------------- Touching the base of the display unit that has been rented allows the renter to change the campaign they're presenting. --------------------------------------------- Adwerx Display - Notecard Configuration --------------------------------------------- The notecard configuration for the display unit is very simple and straight-forward: Campaign= should be set to the default campaign the owner wants run when the display unit is not set. Rentable= True or False, depending on if others should be able to rent the display. Weekly Rent= L$/wk to rent the display for Rent Message= Default hovertext, for when the display isn't rented or running an owner campaign Fade= If set to True, ads will fade from one to the next - however, users might not notice as the fade starts and get the wrong ad. Hovertext= Whether or not to display the hovertexts. Acknowledgments: Brac Collins, TaraLi Jie, RaH Wollongong, and Madeea Nakamura. |
